Ollie's Outie is the first in the Embrace U series. Meet Ollie and her friend and learn about the Umbilical Hernia. 'Embrace U' is a collection of short poetic stories depicting childhood medical conditions, illnesses and/or benign afflictions. Children, along with their support systems are allowed the opportunity to explore illnesses* experienced by themselves or their peers. Each story is designed to educate the young reader about the mechanisms and effects of a particular illness*. Additionally, the reader gains insight into the importance of tactfully approaching the subject of childhood conditions in a way that does not alienate or embarrass their peers. Parents, medical professionals and educational figures are featured in each story to simulate the vitality of the adult community surrounding each unique young character. Ultimately, the literary series aims to highlight each child's individuality, quirks, uniqueness in a positive and informative manner and without consequence.
